5 Awesome Trade Show Giveaway Ideas

Apr 10, 2017

Happy Tuesday!  We’ve shared lots of tips for running a sweepstakes or contest online.  Today, we’re talking about trade show giveaways and sharing ways you can maximize your efforts on site.

You’ll want to ensure you have eye catching signage at your booth and, if you can display the prize available to be won even better!  Advertise your trade show giveaway on your website and especially on social media during the promotion period, as long as it doesn’t violate any compliance issues (i.e. if there’s a cost to enter the trade show, you might not be able to advertise outside the venue without an AMOE).  We’ll walk you through what you can and can’t do.

Tear pad entry is the way most people used to enter trade show giveaways.  But these days, most brands have a tablet on site for people to quickly fill out an online entry form (and even enter through social media)!  Recommend having a couple on hand because long lines are the fastest way to turn potential entrants (and future clients) away from your booth and over to your competitors.

Although on-site drawings can come with their complexities (announcing the name of a winner who turns out to be ineligible can be a PR nightmare), they are probably the most exciting part of an on-site giveaway.  If the prize is awesome (cars, cash, trips) you can draw a really huge crowd and get tons of excitement around your booth.  We’ve traveled cross country to help our clients administer trade show giveaways on sight and can assist in person or virtually!

Speaking of of the best ways to create an exciting trade show giveaway is to offer multiple drawings throughout the day.  This can become a bit cumbersome from an administrative perspective, but if you have a couple of team members on hand to focus on it, you can most definitely pull it off (and create some serious waves).

And, remember – just because you’re running a short lived giveaway or giving away smaller prizes, you still need Official Rules and have to comply with the various promotional laws out there when advertising, selecting winners, announcing winners and distributing prizing.  Let us know what your plans are for your next trade show giveaway and we’ll help you make the best of it.
