Sweepstakes winners are NOT required to pay any money before receiving their prize. If you have been called or have been mailed notification that you have won a sweepstakes or other type of promotion and need to send money before receiving your prize you are most likely being scammed.

Over the past few years, NSC has advised consumers not to fall prey to these frauds. Unfortunately, these individuals are now using our name and logo in order to appear legitimate.  These sweepstakes are NOT legitimate and are in no way associated with NSC.

If you have been notified that you have won a sweepstakes or other type of promotion and are asked for money please contact your State Attorney General, or you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

Social Media Marketing trends for 2017

We recently wrote a blog post covering the best ways to advertise your sweepstakes or contest and as you can probably imagine, social media was a biggy on the list.

Today we’re breaking it down further by discussing a few social media marketing trends forecasted for 2017.  We’ve been doing a ton of research and while there are some differing theories, there are a few trends that almost everyone has on their radar.  Here’s three of the standouts:


You’ve seen social media jumping on board by providing simple solutions to encourage video content (including Facebook Live and Instagram Stories). Video has and will continue to be a growing, awesome beast on social media. A significant 60% of marketers use video in their marketing and 73% plan on increasing their use of video.   Check out the Social Media Marketing Industry Report for full details.   


Since many marketers are seeing a pretty deep decline in organic reach on social networks like Facebook, we’ll likely see brands sponsoring more ads (and getting really creative doing it!).  Make sure you’re properly disclosing the legal disclaimers for any paid ads surrounding your sweepstakes or contest.  Let us know if you have questions.


Touchy feely posts?  Yes.  If you want your post to go viral, you might have to dig a bit deeper and find a way to connect personally with your audience.  Show how passionate your brand is about a particular cause in a video or share a really creative inspirational quote or story about a sweepstakes winner.
