Sweepstakes winners are NOT required to pay any money before receiving their prize. If you have been called or have been mailed notification that you have won a sweepstakes or other type of promotion and need to send money before receiving your prize you are most likely being scammed.

Over the past few years, NSC has advised consumers not to fall prey to these frauds. Unfortunately, these individuals are now using our name and logo in order to appear legitimate.  These sweepstakes are NOT legitimate and are in no way associated with NSC.

If you have been notified that you have won a sweepstakes or other type of promotion and are asked for money please contact your State Attorney General, or you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

In this day and age, you can’t do much of anything without incorporating social media.  And, if you haven’t done so already, launching a social media giveaway is a great way to engage your audience, encourage viral sharing and gain new followers!

Here’s a couple of ways to maximize your efforts!

TARGET YOUR ADVERTISING

Almost all social media platforms offer some form of paid advertising.  And, you can run an awesome, targeted campaign on the cheap if you do it right. 

BONUS ENTRIES FOR SOCIAL SHARES

Ask entrants to share you promotion on social media!  For each share, offer them a bonus entry!

GIVE SOMETHING OF VALUE (TO THEM...AND YOU)

Offer every person who enters, a coupon offering a discount on your product or service.  They will appreciate the chance to save some money and you will reap the benefits of increased sales.

MAKE EM’ FAMOUS!

Offer a contest and ask for submissions that you’ll use as part of your advertising campaign!  Another total win for you and the winner.  They get to share their creativity with the world, and you get to save a ton of money hiring an ad agency.

PRIZES COUNT

Be sure that you are awarding prizing relative to the demographic you are tapping into.  So, no spring break type vacations if your crowd is filled with grandparents.  And, no leisurely trips to admire rose gardens for college kids.  Give them something they will enjoy (and continue to blab about)!
